Period Elements Project
Period Elements Project
Reflecting on my period elements project, I can confidently say that it has been one of my best and most favourite tasks to date. The goal was to create a period-accurate house design capturing the essence of the 1950s, incorporating technical drawings, interior visuals, in-depth research, and a white card model. As I immersed myself in this project, I delved into the vibrant history and design elements of the 1950s using Robin and Lucienne Day’s work as my main inspiration, I think the result was great. The technical drawings were precise and captured the architectural details and my vision of the design well. The interior visuals were effective at showcasing the iconic furniture, colour palettes, and decor that defined the 1950s. I believe my research was extensive and accurate, ensuring that every aspect of the design was true to the period. The model I crafted I believe is the best model I’ve made to date, meticulously bringing every element of the design to life, from the exterior facade to the smallest interior details. The mood boards I curated helped to capture the mood, style, and spirit of the 1950s, providing inspiration and context for my design choices as well as allowing me to play around with the design beforehand. Overall, this project was a resounding success, exceeding my own expectations. It allowed me to showcase my skills, passion, and attention to detail, and I am immensely proud of the outcome. If I was to return to this project I would definitely create a new model but this time in colour to really show off the design.
