Metropolis
Metropolis
This was my first time watching Metropolis and I think it’s a timeless classic. The set design in this film is nothing short of remarkable, capturing the grandeur and dystopian atmosphere of the city with meticulous attention to detail. From towering skyscrapers to intricate underground tunnels, every frame is a visual feast for the eyes.
The film's exploration of societal issues and class divide is present throughout. The story takes us on a thought-provoking journey as it delves into themes of oppression, love, and the power of unity. Despite its length, "Metropolis" manages to maintain a captivating pace, keeping viewers engaged throughout.
While the film is undoubtedly great, a few minor flaws prevent it from achieving a perfect rating. Some character development could have been further explored, and certain plot points feel slightly rushed. However, these shortcomings do not overshadow the overall brilliance of the film.
With its breathtaking set design, thought-provoking narrative, and enduring impact on the science fiction genre, Metropolis deserves a solid 4 out of 5 stars and will be a great reference for me when filmmaking.
