To reflect on my Dreamland project I can say it went very well and I created some of my best work in this task. The goal of this project was to create a world that a child enters when they sleep. I wanted to base the story on one of my previous pieces which was a New Zealand based folklore tale animation called 'The Shark That Created The Universe'. I created a script with the new story after researching some similar folklore tales then to bring this concept to life, I created various elements, including technical drawings of a specially designed bedroom for the child, immersive visuals showcasing the dreamland, extensive and accurate research, mood boards, and the construction of a white card model.
The technical drawings allowed me to carefully plan and envision every aspect of the space, ensuring that it worked well spatially and on screen. I think the visuals of the interior captured the atmosphere perfectly, transporting the viewers into the dreamland.
However, despite the overall success of the project, there was one setback: the white card model. Regrettably, due to a not having the right card at the time, the model did not meet my expectations. Nevertheless, I view this setback as an opportunity for improvement.
Moving forward, I am determined to return to the white card model and rectify the shortcomings. If necessary, I am prepared to restart the model from scratch, as I believe it is crucial to achieve the same standard for the white card model as the rest of the work.
Despite this setback, I remain proud of the overall success of the project. The technical drawings, visuals, research, and mood boards have all contributed to the creation of a world that captures the essence of the Childs story. I am excited to continue refining and expanding upon this concept, bringing it closer to the vision I have in mind.
